“It is a real pleasure to work with Stacy. She is interested and upbeat, and cares about my progress. I encourage anyone out there who is interested in what functional nutrition is all about to consult Stacy.“
“I scheduled an appointment with Stacy, referred by my Nurse Practitioner, because I wanted to lose some weight after having two hip replacement surgeries that caused me to become much less active for a prolonged period. Now, 5 months later, I have lost 8 pounds, am much more active, and eat quite differently. More protein, gluten free, dairy free, pre- and probiotics. I feel great.

“I write in hopes that others will find their way to Stacy Phillips and the lifestyle, nutrition and exercise advice she offers.
During my first session with Stacy, she said I would feel better in six weeks if I rigorously followed her nutrition program. I went home and marked my calendar for one through six weeks because I believe in using data. In truth, at about the three-week point, I felt lighter, more energized, happier.
I told Stacy during that first session that despite being 69, I wanted to lose 20 pounds of fat and gain 5 of muscle. She said she was in!
She changed my diet a lot: No white bread, no cookies, etc. However, I was never hungry (except when my plans went awry), because there was no limit on protein or veggies. I probably tripled my protein and started eating—and seeing—fruits and veggies by color. Instead of making salads on the basis of what was in the fridge, I shopped for colors. A staple now is “ROYGBV” salad: red, orange, yellow, green, blue/violet and white/tan. A joy to create and eat!
I had fun exploring new foods and negotiating at the grocery store, and my husband was fun coming along for the ride. He was the first to notice, for instance, that after a few attempts our berries with certain foods didn’t really need the sweetness I was adding to make this breakfast more enjoyable.
After two or three months of upping my diet and losing a few pounds, it was time to have a serious discussion about my brilliant array of weights, sorely underused. Stacy watched me run through the exercises I wanted to do, checking my posture, technique and challenge level. We wrote out a routine and set a schedule; the rest is up to me. I must admit that getting myself to work out is easier, knowing that Stacy (and my husband) are counting on me.
I’ll never know if I achieve my five-pound muscle goal because I’m not willing to go to the expense of finding out. However, I do feel stronger: I think my thighs lift more easily when I walk and that my ab muscles activate more strongly during core exercises.
The whole experience has been a great learning exercise with the joy that comes from learning and changing. If you’re at all interested, I urge you to start. There’s no commitment so you can quit anytime.”

“Stacy is warm, knowledgeable and ready to jump into that pit of issues with me. I felt comfortable discussing it all with her and going through the details, good and bad, knowing it all matters…”
“I met Stacy through my primary care office, and welcomed this addition gladly since I was ready to take a dip into my digestion/weight issues after not being happy for a while. I knew it was going to be challenging and my motivation pushed me hard enough.
Stacy is warm, knowledgeable and ready to jump into that pit of issues with me. I felt comfortable discussing it all with her and going through the details, good and bad, knowing it all matters in order to create a plan. I also needed to be honest with myself from the start about how much am I investing, on all levels, and am a firm believer that if you really want to make a change – you WILL find a way.
…I learned so much, I became more resourceful, more focused and organized, I made my health a priority. I do not want to “get a fish” I wanted to be taught “how to fish!” And this is what Stacy is doing…She is giving me guidance, but guess who is in charge here? ME. …I am very headstrong and hate being deprived of anything I love especially food….now my 5th week in I feel great, I lost inches, pounds, acne, tiredness, grumpiness and many more little things that bothered me before. It works!”
“…it was apparent from right away Stacy could do more for me on an individual basis as what I ate impacted my thyroid function and symptoms. …my blood work has improved and more importantly I feel better.”
“I have been working with Stacy on my health goals for six months. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2009. While the Navy medical system focused on treating the systems and consistently monitored my blood work to adjust medication to keep my numbers within the normal range, no one ever discussed the potential underlying cause of the disease or other things I should consider that could be contributors to fatigue and other side effects.
I have been training to compete in triathlons with a few co-workers and went to see Stacy for the first time together to talk nutritional goals as they related to training but it was apparent from right away Stacy could do more for me on an individual basis as what I ate impacted my thyroid function and symptoms.
Before meeting with Stacy, I was eating “healthy” by the standards of quantities of meat, vegetables, fruits, etc. but I had never considered that some of those “good” foods were working against my body in unintended ways.
…my blood work has improved and more importantly I feel better. I believe it is worth the time and effort to listen to Stacy’s recommendations and put them into practice.”
